Myspace Comment Spam - Not So Fast Anymore...

Browsing across the many seo blogs out there, I recently came across the Monkey SEO blog.  Looks like SEO truly is so easy a monkey can do it!  Who knows maybe the Geico cavemen will come on board soon.

The monkey's latest post talks about the death of MySpace comment spam for SEO purposes.  Many people have used the ability to comment on everyone's page to place keyword rich links to their sites in order to increase search rankings.  I know my profile has experienced quite a few people trying to do this due to the fact that I am put that I am interested in Internet marketing and was having to go in and delete all of the comment spam.

Check out the post at the monkey blog and share your thoughts on why MySpace has changed the way that comment links are being treated.

Does this mean that you shouldn't use MySpace as a marketing tool? No, but don't expect to use it a means to increase page rank or backlinks.

I think people really need to see these community places as a place where same minded people gather to talk about the thing they find interesting in “their world”. So I’m sure if you can profile yourself in of such a group, you can use these places as a traffic builder, if you’re looking for an ‘SEO’ benefit you’re wasting your time :D

As the de facto administrator of the Security Fix blog, I've spent many an hour deleting spammy links left in the comments section -
- comments that usually lead back to the same kinds of Web sites you most commonly see advertised in junk e-mail.

Interactivity, especially with linking possibility attracks always spammers
