Yes, I am a Yan Fan (Holly that is)
I have always made it a habit to read the Dallas Morning News on a daily basis. I always remember my father doing the same when I was young, and he always seemed to know everything that was going on in current events.
After reading the DMN for many years, there are always reporters who seem to be a notch above the competition. The Business section is always the first I read and Scott Burns always seems to have some information that will help me to be financially stable as I age.
The Metro section is always my second read, and over the past year or so, I have really enjoyed the stories from Holly Yan. In recent articles Holly Yan has focused on the foster system and it seems that her articles are opening the eyes of the state and they are working to make changes to a system that has problems that Yan has helped to expose.
While Holly's writing is usually devoted very serious topics, I will never forget running into her at the State Fair this past fall when she was covering the jalapeno eating contest. It was a very entertaining look at a ?serious? competition. This article by Yan and the supporting video are a testament to her abilities in all situations.
Ok, so I will quit rambling about my love for the staff of the Dallas Morning News. The reason I am writing this is because as I was reading Holly's latest article, I decided that I am officially a "Yan Fan." Now wouldn't it be nice if they all had a name that rhymed so well?
